Safety & Reverting

Is it safe to use?

Is Vax Tweaker safe to use?
Yes. Every registry change is backed up before it is applied. You can revert all optimizations with one click from the Restore & Recovery page. No uninstaller, no leftover mess. The batch rollback engine also handles failed runs automatically, reversing any partially applied changes.
Will this get me banned from competitive games?
Vax Tweaker exclusively modifies Windows system settings: kernel parameters, registry keys, services, power plans and network configuration. It does not modify game files, inject into game processes, or interact with any anti-cheat layer. These are the same types of tweaks covered in public optimization guides. No ban cases have been reported.
Can I revert everything?
Yes, completely. Before applying any tweak, Vax Tweaker stores the original registry value. The Restore & Recovery page lets you create a Windows System Restore point, open the system restore tool directly and roll back all applied Vax tweaks in one action. Crash recovery checkpoints ensure even a forced reboot doesn't leave you in a partial state.
What happens after a Windows Update?
Windows Updates can silently revert some optimizations. Vax Tweaker's Drift Detection scans periodically and notifies you exactly which tweaks changed, so you can reapply them with one click rather than discovering degraded performance later.

Compatibility

Windows compatibility

Which Windows versions are supported?
Windows 10 (21H2 and later) and Windows 11 (all released builds). Individual tweaks that require a minimum OS build are gated at the tweak level. Incompatible options are hidden, not just greyed out.
Does it work on laptops?
Yes. Vax Tweaker works on laptops, though results vary more due to thermal throttling and battery-mode switching. For best results, run it plugged in with Windows set to Performance mode. The GPU power-state lock in Gaming Mode activates only when supported hardware is detected.
Does it support AMD GPUs?
Yes. Version 2.4.2 introduced the AMD Profile module. The app detects your primary GPU at runtime. If you have a discrete AMD GPU, AMD Profile loads automatically. If you have NVIDIA, the NVIDIA optimization module loads instead. Both never appear simultaneously.
I have a laptop with both integrated and discrete GPU. Which module loads?
Vax Tweaker selects the GPU module by the adapter with the highest dedicated VRAM. On a system with an AMD/Intel iGPU and an NVIDIA dGPU, the NVIDIA module loads. The GPU with the most dedicated VRAM is treated as primary.

Licensing & Plans

Licensing & billing

How does licensing work?
After purchase you receive a license key via Sell.app. Enter it in the app to activate. The key is tied to one physical device. If you upgrade your machine, contact support for a device reset.
Can I cancel the monthly or annual plan?
Yes. Both subscription plans (Monthly and Annual) can be cancelled at any time through your Sell.app account. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Does Lifetime include future updates?
Yes. The Lifetime plan includes all future updates for as long as Vax Tweaker exists. The built-in updater handles this automatically. No manual download needed.

Technical

Technical questions

Is it portable? Do I need to install it?
Yes. Vax Tweaker is a single portable .exe. No installer, no system-level service, no DLL dependencies. Drop it anywhere and run it. Settings are stored in %APPDATA%\VaxTweaker.
Does the app itself use significant resources?
No. Vax Tweaker is a native C++ / DX11 application with low overhead. The main loop uses MsgWaitForMultipleObjects with a 32ms idle timeout, meaning it consumes essentially no CPU when you're not actively using it. When minimized, rendering is skipped entirely.

Free vs Premium

Free vs Premium

What does the free version include?
The free version includes 3 modules (FPS & Rendering, Network Optimization, System Cleaner) with 75 optimization entries. Real, functional optimizer. Not a crippled teaser. Premium adds 11 additional modules, 290+ more entries, Drift Detection, Gaming Mode, Game Profiles, VAX Score, Diagnostics, System Monitor, the onboarding wizard, 5-language localization and the built-in updater.
Why upgrade from free to premium?
The free version handles baseline optimization. Premium adds the features that maintain and expand that foundation over time: Drift Detection catches regressions, Gaming Mode applies a coordinated session workflow, Game Profiles let you switch setups per game, VAX Score gives visibility into your optimization state and the full module set covers GPU, privacy, security, debloat and service management. None of those are in free.
